In a statement, NAF Director of Public Relations and Information, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, said the operation was carried out at the request of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to ensure the timely and secure delivery of election materials.
The airlift covered the Ekiti governorship poll, senatorial by-elections in Enugu North, Nasarawa North and Rivers South East, as well as federal constituency by-elections in Dawakin Kudu/Warawa in Kano State and Zuru/Shanga in Kebbi State.
According to the statement, the materials were transported from the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, to designated airports in Enugu, Rivers and Kano States.
Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Aneke, commended the personnel involved, saying the operation reflects the Air Force’s commitment to supporting democratic institutions and national development.
The NAF said the successful mission underscores its longstanding partnership with INEC in ensuring the smooth conduct of credible elections across the country.
The Ekiti governorship election, involving 13 political parties, will be held across the state’s 16 local government areas on June 20.
