The Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE) has suspended a director, a deputy dean, and the Students’ Union Government (SUG) president over allegations of unauthorised collection of money from students.
The suspension was announced in a statement signed by the university’s Registrar, Mr. Mufutau A. Ibrahim.
The affected officials are Mr. Olanrewaju Patrick Ogunjobi, Director of the Directorate of Educational Technology, Innovation and Entrepreneurship; Dr. Banji Rildwan Olaleye, Deputy Dean of Student Affairs and Support Services; and SUG President, Mr. James Iyanuoluwa Adio.
According to the university, the action followed a petition alleging that N1,000 was collected from each 100-level student for practical sessions under the Directorate.
Management said a preliminary fact-finding committee was set up to investigate the allegations, and all accused persons appeared before it to respond.
The university alleged that Ogunjobi authorised and collected the levy without approval, while Olaleye participated in the process. It also alleged that the SUG president was indirectly involved, including receiving N700,000 into his personal account as part of the disputed funds.
FUOYE said the suspension is pending the outcome of full disciplinary proceedings, stressing its commitment to integrity and zero tolerance for corruption, extortion, and abuse of office.
