IG Promotes 374 Police Officers in Kwara

The Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, has approved the promotion of 374 officers serving in the Kwara State Police Command as part of efforts to reward professionalism, diligence and dedicated service within the Nigeria Police Force.

The promotion exercise, which is part of a nationwide elevation of qualified personnel across the force, affected officers across various ranks in the command.

According to a statement issued on Friday by the Police Public Relations Officer of the Kwara State Command, Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, 365 police constables were promoted to the rank of corporal, while two corporals were elevated to the rank of sergeant.

The statement further disclosed that five sergeants were promoted to the rank of inspector, while two superintendents of police were advanced to the rank of chief superintendent of police.

Reacting to the development, the Commissioner of Police in Kwara State, Ojo Adekimi, congratulated the beneficiaries and described the promotion as recognition of their commitment, sacrifice and contributions to maintaining law and order.

“This promotion is a recognition of the commitment, sacrifice and invaluable contributions of the beneficiaries to the maintenance of law and order in Kwara State and the country at large,” Adekimi said.

He noted that promotion should be viewed not only as a reward for hard work but also as a call to greater responsibility.

“Promotion is both a reward for good performance and a call to greater responsibility. Officers who have benefited from this exercise must remain disciplined, professional and committed to the core values of the Nigeria Police Force,” he added.

The commissioner urged the newly promoted officers to remain dedicated to the protection of lives and property and to continue supporting efforts to maintain peace and public safety across the state.

Adekimi also commended the Inspector-General of Police for prioritising personnel welfare, career advancement and institutional development within the force.

“The Inspector-General of Police has demonstrated unwavering commitment to personnel welfare, career advancement and the overall development of the Nigeria Police Force. This promotion exercise has significantly boosted the morale of officers and men of the command,” he said.
