Sanwo-Olu announced the party’s ticket in a post on his verified X handle on Thursday, describing the pair as a leadership team capable of sustaining and expanding the developmental strides recorded in Lagos State.
According to the governor, the choice of the candidates reflects the APC’s commitment to continuity, competence and inclusive governance.
He noted that effective governance requires the transfer of leadership to individuals with the vision, experience and capacity to advance the progress of the state.
Sanwo-Olu praised Hamzat’s contributions to the administration, describing him as a dependable partner and committed public servant.
“Dr Obafemi Hamzat has proven himself to be a dedicated public servant, a dependable partner in governance and a steadfast advocate for progress,” the governor stated.
He also commended Sonayon-James, describing her as a respected leader, sustainability professional and grassroots development advocate.
“Joining him as his running mate is Princess Damilola Sonayon-James, a respected leader, sustainability professional, and grassroots champion whose commitment to community development and youth empowerment reflects the aspirations of many Lagosians,” he said.
Sanwo-Olu expressed confidence that the duo possesses the experience, competence and energy required to consolidate on the achievements of the current administration.
“Together, they bring the experience, competence and energy needed to build on our achievements and move Lagos forward,” he added.
The governor urged APC members, stakeholders and residents of Lagos State to support the ticket as political activities begin to gather momentum ahead of the 2027 governorship election.
