Osun 2026: ADC Raises Alarm Over Ede, Osogbo Violence, Demands Probe

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has condemned the reported incidents of violence, intimidation and disruption of political campaign activities in Ede and Osogbo, calling on security agencies to conduct a thorough investigation and ensure that those responsible are brought to justice.

The spokesperson of the ADC Gubernatorial Campaign Council, Hon. Adebisi Nurein, in a statement issued on Tuesday, said the incidents were contrary to democratic principles and warned that acts capable of creating fear and tension must not be allowed to define the political atmosphere ahead of the 2026 Osun governorship election.

According to him, “These unfortunate developments are inconsistent with the democratic values of peace, tolerance and respect that should guide electoral engagements in Osun State. The people of Osun deserve campaigns focused on ideas, policies and solutions, not actions capable of creating fear, tension or instability.”

The party urged all political parties, particularly the All Progressives Congress (APC), Accord Party and other stakeholders, to caution their supporters and ensure that campaign activities are conducted peacefully and within the ambit of the law.

ADC also called on security agencies and electoral authorities to investigate the reported incidents and prosecute anyone found culpable, irrespective of political affiliation.

Reaffirming the party’s commitment to peaceful and issue-based campaigns, Nurein said ADC remained focused on promoting integrity, accountability and genuine service to the people, stressing that leadership should be determined through the free expression of the electorate at the ballot box.

The party further urged residents of the state to reject divisive politics and embrace peaceful participation in the democratic process, insisting that Osun’s future should not be sacrificed on the altar of political confrontation.

ADC maintained that its governorship candidate, Rt. Hon. Najeem Salaam, represents a vision of responsible leadership, economic growth, quality education, accessible healthcare, youth empowerment and agricultural development.

The party expressed confidence that through unity, peace and adherence to democratic principles, the people of Osun State would be able to chart a new course towards prosperity and sustainable development.

ADC, however, reiterated its call on security agencies to carry out a proper investigation into the incidents and allow the law to take its course against all perpetrators.
