Panic in Lagos as Police React to Alleged School Attack Threat

The Lagos State Police Command has assured residents that there is no verified intelligence suggesting an imminent bandit attack on any school in the state, following reports of a threatening notice allegedly pasted within a school.

 

In a statement issued on Sunday by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abimbola Adebisi, the Command said it immediately began assessing the situation after reports of the alleged threat surfaced online.

 

According to the police, preliminary checks have not confirmed any credible intelligence pointing to a planned abduction or attack on schools in Lagos State.

 

The statement noted that the Commissioner of Police, CP Tijani Fatai, ordered an immediate security assessment and the deployment of additional officers to schools and other strategic locations across the state.

 

Police operatives, in collaboration with other security agencies, have also intensified patrols around educational institutions, critical infrastructure and communities as part of preventive measures.

 

“The Command wishes to reassure parents, guardians, school authorities and all residents that there is presently no verified intelligence indicating any imminent threat of such an attack within Lagos State,” the statement read.

 

The police warned against spreading false information capable of causing panic, stressing that any attempt to destabilise public peace would be met with the full weight of the law.

 

It added that Lagos remains secure and urged residents to remain vigilant while promptly reporting suspicious activities to security agencies.

 

The Command also encouraged residents to provide timely and credible information, noting that community cooperation remains essential in preventing crime and strengthening security across the state.
