The party said the move is aimed at strengthening transparency, fairness and internal democracy in its candidate selection process.
In a statement issued on Thursday, PDP National Publicity Secretary, Jungudo Mohammed, said the panels would review complaints submitted by aspirants and stakeholders dissatisfied with the outcome of the primaries.
“The appeal panels will hear and review appeals from contestants and stakeholders who are dissatisfied with the outcome of the primaries. They will also make recommendations in line with the party’s Constitution, Electoral Guidelines and relevant provisions of the law,” he said.
Mohammed noted that the initiative reflects the party’s commitment to ensuring a credible and transparent process ahead of future elections.
According to him, PDP National Chairman, Abdulrahman Mohammed, will chair the appeal panel for governorship and presidential primary disputes, while former National Secretary, Samuel Anyanwu, is among its members.
He added that Suleiman Afolagbe will lead the panel responsible for appeals arising from state House of Assembly and National Assembly primaries.
The nine-member legislative appeals panel is scheduled to sit on June 8 and June 9 at the National Working Committee (NWC) Hall at the party’s national secretariat in Abuja.
The 24-member governorship and presidential appeals panel is expected to begin sittings on June 10 at the same venue.
