Kidnapped schoolchildren: Tinubu can’t sleep, Aso Rock moody — Jibrin

A member of the House of Representatives from Kano State, Abdulmumin Jibrin, says President Bola Tinubu has been deeply affected by the recent wave of school kidnappings across the country, adding that even officials at the Presidential Villa are in a sombre mood over the situation.

Jibrin made the remarks on Arise Television’s Prime Time on Wednesday night, while reacting to the rising cases of abductions of schoolchildren in different parts of Nigeria.

He expressed sympathy for the victims and their families, describing the incidents as painful and difficult to discuss.

“The school children that were kidnapped, it’s actually a difficult thing to talk about; my sympathy goes to the families of those kidnapped kids and those who lost their lives in the hands of kidnappers and bandits,” he said.

Jibrin added that the Federal Government is working to address the situation and secure the release of the abducted victims.

He said efforts were ongoing at the highest level of government to ensure the safe return of the children.

“What I can assure you is that the president and his government are doing everything possible to see that the security situation is tackled,” he said.

According to him, there is heightened concern within the Presidency over the incidents.

“I’m just coming back from the Villa and everybody is moody and the matter is all about those kidnapped and their families,” he said.

Jibrin further stated that President Tinubu is personally disturbed by the situation, insisting that the President is under pressure to find urgent solutions.

“Let me tell you something, the last person that can be able to sleep that I know very well is the president,” he added.

He maintained that government efforts are focused on both immediate rescue operations and longer-term strategies to tackle insecurity across the country.
