Kwankwaso denies planned protest over insecurity, urges peaceful democratic engagement

Former Kano State Governor and National Democratic Coalition (NDC) vice-presidential candidate, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has denied reports circulating on social media claiming he is planning a protest over the worsening security situation in the country.

In a statement issued on Monday, Kwankwaso described the claim as false and urged the public to disregard the message, saying it did not reflect his position or that of his political party.

“Our attention has been drawn to a message currently circulating on social media falsely claiming that we are planning a protest over the rising insecurity in the country,” he said.

Kwankwaso stressed that neither he nor the NDC supports actions capable of disrupting public peace or endangering lives and property.

“We do not support any action that could lead to the breakdown of public order or the destruction of lives and property,” he stated.

He reiterated his commitment to peaceful and lawful approaches in addressing national challenges, maintaining that democratic processes remain the proper channel for seeking political change.

“As responsible leaders, we remain committed to peaceful and constructive approaches in addressing national challenges,” he said.

The former governor added that political grievances should be addressed through elections rather than street protests, expressing confidence in the NDC’s chances in future polls.

“As committed democrats, we firmly believe that the ballot box remains the most legitimate and effective way to express grievances and seek change. Our party, the NDC, is confident of securing a resounding victory in the upcoming elections through peaceful democratic means,” he said.

Kwankwaso urged Nigerians to ignore the circulating message and refrain from spreading unverified information.
