Kaduna ranked third best-performing state in Nigeria

Kaduna State has emerged as the third best-performing state in Nigeria in the 2025 Phillips Consulting State Performance Index, earning an Excellent Four-Star Rating.

The Kaduna State Government said the ranking serves as an independent validation of the reforms and development initiatives being implemented by Governor Uba Sani’s administration.

In a statement issued on Monday, the Commissioner for Information and Culture, Ahmed Maiyaki, said the assessment reflected progress recorded across key sectors, including governance, fiscal management, infrastructure, healthcare, education, agriculture, security and social inclusion.

According to him, the ranking was based on objective performance indicators and feedback from citizens.

“This recognition is significant because it comes from an independent and credible assessment that combines objective performance indicators with citizen feedback.

“It confirms that Kaduna State is making steady progress in strengthening institutions, improving governance outcomes and expanding opportunities for its citizens,” Maiyaki said.

The commissioner noted that the recognition adds to a series of recent independent assessments highlighting improvements in governance and accountability in the state.

He recalled that Kaduna was recently ranked first in the country on the 2025 Transparency and Integrity Index published by the Centre for Fiscal Transparency and Public Integrity and also recorded the highest score nationwide on the Control of Corruption Indicator.

“These rankings are encouraging because they demonstrate that our efforts are yielding measurable results. However, our focus remains on improving the lives of our people through inclusive development, economic empowerment, quality service delivery and sustainable peace,” he added.

Maiyaki reaffirmed Governor Uba Sani’s commitment to building a peaceful, prosperous, transparent and globally competitive Kaduna State through sustained reforms and people-centred policies.

The state government also appreciated citizens, development partners, traditional and religious institutions, civil society organisations and other stakeholders for their contributions to the state’s development.

Since assuming office in May 2023, Governor Sani has pursued reforms focused on fiscal discipline, infrastructure development, healthcare expansion, education, agriculture and security, with the administration maintaining that its policies are aimed at promoting inclusive growth, reducing poverty and restoring public confidence in government institutions.
