2027: Katsina APC affirms Radda as consensus governorship candidate

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Katsina State has affirmed Governor Dikko Radda as its consensus governorship candidate for the 2027 general elections.

The affirmation exercise was held on Thursday in Katsina and supervised by officials from the APC national headquarters.

Chairman of the Electoral Committee for the Governorship Consensus Exercise, Dr Yakubu Maccido, said 160 delegates unanimously endorsed Radda as the party’s candidate.

Maccido explained that under the Electoral Act and APC guidelines, where a party has a sole aspirant, delegates are required to affirm the candidate through a voice vote.

He subsequently declared Radda the APC consensus governorship candidate for the 2027 election in Katsina State.

The committee also presented declaration of result forms for other elective positions to party leaders.

APC National Vice Zonal Chairman, Alhaji Datti Garba, commended party members for conducting the exercise peacefully and in an orderly manner.

Chairman of the Local Organising Committee, Alhaji Abdulkadir Mamman Nasir, said Katsina was among states where the consensus option was adopted without internal disputes.

Former Katsina State Governor, Aminu Masari, urged party members and aspirants whose ambitions did not materialise to support Governor Radda and prioritise party unity.

Masari, who also chairs the party’s reconciliation committee, advised the governor to continue carrying stakeholders along in governance and party affairs.

He described the process in Katsina as peaceful and successful compared to developments in some other states.

The former governor also called on APC stakeholders to intensify grassroots mobilisation ahead of the 2027 elections.

According to him, mobilisation efforts would be crucial in securing victory for President Bola Tinubu, Governor Radda and other APC candidates.

He further urged residents of the state to support the APC at the polls, describing Katsina as one of the party’s strongholds.

In his acceptance speech, Governor Radda thanked party leaders, stakeholders and members for endorsing his re-election bid.

He pledged to justify the confidence reposed in him and work towards strengthening the APC and delivering on his administration’s responsibilities.
