Desmond Elliot withdraws from Lagos Assembly APC primary race

The lawmaker representing Surulere I Constituency in the Lagos State House of Assembly, Desmond Elliot, has officially withdrawn from the All Progressives Congress primary election.

Elliot announced his withdrawal in a video circulating on social media on Wednesday.

The APC lawmaker alleged intimidation and obstruction during the exercise, claiming that some of his supporters were prevented from participating.

“My name is Desmond Elliot. In all zones, they have been intimidating and stopping us,” he said.

“I want to officially announce my withdrawal from this particular race. This is my ward. If you go outside, those are my people outside, and they have not been allowed, so I am officially announcing my withdrawal from this race. Good luck, thank you.”

Elliot currently represents Surulere I Constituency in the Lagos State House of Assembly and had been seeking re-election on the platform of the APC.

The party is conducting primary elections to select candidates ahead of the 2027 general elections.
