Bandits reportedly behead abducted Oyo teacher

One of the teachers abducted during the attack on Community High School, Ahoro-Esinele in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State, Michael Oyedokun, has reportedly been killed by his captors.

Gunmen had invaded the school on Friday, May 15, abducting the principal, other teachers and several students during the attack.

The incident came weeks after a failed kidnap attempt along the Ibadan-Ijebu Road that reportedly left a traveller dead, further heightening concerns over insecurity in parts of Oyo State and across the country.

A video said to have been released by the abductors on Sunday allegedly showed Oyedokun being beheaded.

The disturbing footage, which has circulated online, has sparked renewed fears over the safety of the remaining victims still in captivity.

The development has thrown the community into mourning, with residents, families of the abducted victims and indigenes calling on security agencies and the Oyo State Government to intensify rescue efforts and secure the release of those still being held.

As of the time of filing this report, authorities had yet to officially confirm the killing or authenticate the video.
