The development followed a reconciliation meeting convened in Abuja by , where aggrieved aspirants and party stakeholders resolved lingering disputes surrounding the APC senatorial ticket in the district.
According to a statement issued on Sunday by the governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Dawakin, the peace meeting ended with eight aspirants voluntarily stepping down and endorsing Shekarau as the party’s consensus flagbearer.
Governor Yusuf commended the aspirants for placing the unity and progress of the party above personal ambition, describing their action as a strong demonstration of political maturity, sacrifice, and commitment to democratic ideals.
He further reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to dialogue, inclusion, and consensus-building as pathways to political stability and sustainable development in Kano State.
One of the stakeholders, Usman Bala, described the governor’s intervention as timely and commendable, noting that all the aspirants unanimously supported the peace initiative.
In his remarks, Shekarau expressed appreciation to Governor Yusuf for fostering reconciliation among the contenders and thanked the aspirants for rallying behind his candidacy and the broader APC agenda in Kano State.
