APC Primary: Youth Forum Demands Disqualification of Ex-Lawmaker Oluga Over Alleged Membership Breach

A political pressure group within the All Progressives Congress (APC), under the aegis of the Concerned Ayedaade/Irewole/Isokan Federal Constituency APC Youth Forum, has urged the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) and the House of Representatives Screening Committee to uphold a petition seeking the disqualification of former lawmaker, Taiwo Olukemi Oluga, from the forthcoming party primary.

The group made the call on Sunday while reacting to a formal petition submitted to the APC national leadership, alleging that the former legislator is not a registered or financially active member of the party in any ward within Ayedaade Local Government Area of Osun State.

The group, led by Comrade Ismail Alade (Ward 4, Isokan LGA) and Elder Bukola Familusi (Ward 6, Ayedaade LGA), insisted that the APC must strictly adhere to its constitution and internal guidelines in screening aspirants for the Ayedaade/Irewole/Isokan Federal Constituency seat.

According to them, the petition dated May 9, 2026, submitted to the APC House of Representatives Screening Committee at the party’s national secretariat in Abuja, alleged that Oluga failed to meet basic membership requirements, including registration at ward level, payment of dues, and possession of valid membership documentation.

The petition cited relevant provisions of the APC Constitution, particularly Articles 9.1(i) and (ii), which stipulate that only duly registered and financially up-to-date members are eligible to vote or be voted for in party elections.

It further referenced Article 31.2(i), which states that only valid party members can be nominated as candidates in any election, warning that failure to comply could invalidate the entire primary process and expose the party to legal disputes.

The youth forum stressed that the allegations, if not properly investigated, could undermine the credibility of the party’s screening exercise and the legitimacy of its eventual candidate.

Comrade Ismail Alade said the group’s position was not politically motivated but driven by the need to protect the integrity of the APC’s internal democratic process.

“We are not opposed to any individual’s ambition. However, the party’s constitution must be respected by all aspirants without exception. No one should be above the rules,” he said.

Also speaking, Elder Bukola Familusi called on the party leadership to ensure transparency in verifying the claims, urging the submission of ward membership registers for proper authentication.

“If the allegations are false, the records will clear it. But if they are true, the party must act decisively to avoid unnecessary controversy and post-primary litigation,” he stated.

The group further urged the APC NWC and screening committee to suspend the clearance of the former lawmaker pending the outcome of a full membership verification exercise.

As of press time, Taiwo Olukemi Oluga and the APC leadership in Osun State had yet to issue an official response to the allegations.

The development comes as political activities intensify ahead of the party’s primaries across constituencies in Osun State.
