Tinubu seeks Senate confirmation of Tegbe as minister, Umar as NMDPRA CEO

President Bola Tinubu has asked the Senate to confirm the nomination of Joseph Tegbe as a minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

The request was read on the floor of the Senate on Tuesday by Senate President Godswill Akpabio, following a letter transmitted by the President in line with Section 147(2) of the 1999 Constitution (as amended).

Tinubu also sought the confirmation of Ambassador Sola Enikanolaiye as Minister of State, as well as Rabiu Abdullahi Umar as Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA).

The President urged the Senate to give the nominations expeditious consideration.

Tegbe was earlier nominated as Minister of Power, following the resignation of Adebayo Adelabu, who stepped down to pursue his governorship ambition in Oyo State ahead of the 2027 elections.

A fiscal and economic reform expert, Tegbe has over 35 years of experience across the public and private sectors. He previously served as Senior Partner and Head of Advisory Services at KPMG Africa, where he led initiatives on fiscal policy reforms, institutional transformation, and governance.

He has also advised government institutions and private organisations on regulatory frameworks, investment structuring, and strategic reforms.

The nominations are part of ongoing adjustments within the federal cabinet and key regulatory agencies.
