Lamido, who was the PDP’s governorship candidate in the 2023 general election, submitted the form to the state Working Committee and other party stakeholders on Tuesday in Dutse, the state capital.
Addressing party leaders and supporters, he said he had concluded consultations and was now seeking the party’s endorsement to contest under its platform.
“We are PDP card-carrying members, and we believe in our party’s philosophy, strength, and resilience to tackle its internal challenges,” he said.
The governorship hopeful expressed confidence in the PDP’s capacity to address the state’s challenges if returned to power, insisting that the party still enjoys public trust.
“We believe the people of Jigawa and Nigerians still have confidence in the PDP,” he added.
Lamido argued that the PDP’s track record in governance remains unmatched, claiming that parties that succeeded it have failed to meet expectations.
“All other political parties that came after the PDP have failed woefully,” he said, citing what he described as poor leadership and ineffective policies at the national level.
He accused the current administration of worsening the country’s socio-economic and security challenges rather than addressing them.
The aspirant called on PDP members in Jigawa to unite behind his ambition, assuring them of his commitment to the party’s ideals of service and patriotism.
Mustapha Lamido is the son of former Jigawa State governor, Sule Lamido. He said his ambition is driven by a desire to restore effective governance and rebuild public confidence in leadership.
