Obi made the appeal on Sunday in Abuja during his formal reception into the NDC alongside former Kano State governor, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, at the party’s national secretariat.
The former Anambra State governor, who recently exited the African Democratic Congress (ADC), warned that prolonged court cases and intra-party wrangling could undermine efforts to build a strong and credible political alternative.
“Please, let there be no litigation. Party members should avoid going to court. We are here to build a party, not to engage in endless legal battles,” Obi said.
He further urged the judiciary to expedite pending cases affecting the party, stressing the need for unity and focus.
“We are pleading with the judiciary to quickly resolve all lingering cases so we can concentrate on building a new Nigeria. Our goal is to create a country where merit prevails — where a child of nobody can become somebody without knowing anybody,” he added.
Earlier, the National Chairman of the NDC, Cleopas Moses Zuwoghe, formally presented membership cards to both Obi and Kwankwaso.
In his remarks, Kwankwaso said their decision to align with the NDC followed extensive consultations and a shared belief in the party’s ideology.
He called on Nigerians to join the party and participate actively in its activities ahead of the membership registration deadline.
The development signals a significant realignment in the country’s political landscape as key opposition figures consolidate efforts ahead of the next general elections.
