The police, in a statement issued by its spokesperson, Abiodun Ojelabi, said the report in circulation was unverified and capable of inciting unnecessary panic among residents of the state.
The clarification comes on the heels of an earlier claim by the Osun State Government, through the Commissioner for Information, Kolapo Alimi, alleging that B-Red narrowly escaped an assassination attempt in the Oke-Fia area of Osogbo.
However, the police explained that the incident, as reported by the singer, only involved suspicious surveillance. According to the command, B-Red stated that he was trailed by unidentified individuals on motorcycles along the Olaiya–Alekuwodo axis, who allegedly pointed at him after recognizing him as the governor’s son.
He further reported that a white Toyota Venza without a registration number joined in following his vehicle.
Despite the development, the police said B-Red and his associates safely navigated the situation and arrived at the Government House in Oke-Fia without any confrontation.
“The complainant confirmed that he was neither attacked nor physically harmed,” the statement added.
The command disclosed that the matter has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for discreet investigation, reiterating that there was no assassination attempt as earlier claimed.
