Adeboye made this assertion on Saturday during a workers’ meeting at the Redemption City along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, urging Nigerians not to be overwhelmed by mounting political activities ahead of the polls.
“The next president has already been decided by God who owns the universe. It is not something we can determine by human effort alone. The will of God will be done,” he said.
While acknowledging the role of civic participation, the cleric stressed that spiritual perspective must not be ignored in national affairs. According to him, “We should do our part, but we must also continue to pray and trust God, who has the final say in the affairs of men.”
Adeboye also addressed remarks attributed to activist Omoyele Sowore, clarifying that his leadership is limited to his denomination and not the entire Christian body in Nigeria. He pointed to the Christian Association of Nigeria as the umbrella body representing Christians nationwide.
“I have never wanted to be the father of all Christians in Nigeria. I am satisfied with being the father of the Redeemed Christian Church of God. That is enough assignment for me,” he stated.
On political neutrality, the respected cleric dismissed claims linking the church with any political party, insisting that the RCCG remains non-partisan despite speaking on issues affecting citizens’ welfare.
He further disclosed his willingness to participate in peaceful protests if called upon by CAN, recalling that he had taken similar action during the administration of Goodluck Jonathan.
Adeboye, however, maintained a firm stance against politicising the church altar, warning that while politicians are free to attend services, they would not be allowed to use the pulpit for campaigns.
As political momentum builds towards 2027, he urged Nigerians to remain calm, law-abiding, and prayerful, emphasizing that faith and responsibility must go hand in hand.
