The incident, which reportedly occurred at about 3:30 p.m. around the Oke-Fia axis near the Government House, has thrown Osogbo into tension, with authorities confirming that the matter has been reported to security agencies.
In a statement signed by the Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Hon. Kolapo Alimi, the government condemned the alleged attack and urged law enforcement agencies to act swiftly.
Narrating his ordeal, B-Red alleged that he was trailed by armed men suspected to be hoodlums operating in motorcycles and a white Toyota Venza while he was moving around the Alekuwodo area.
“I went out to buy some things around Alekuwodo market when I noticed some Okada riders wearing AMBO caps trying to surround my vehicle at a traffic point under Okefia Bridge,” he said.
“As we tried to move, a white Toyota Venza came towards us with shouts of ‘it is him, it is him.’ The vehicle and the motorcycles then pursued us, attempting to block my jeep all the way to the gate of the Government House,” he added.
He further alleged that one of the occupants of the pursuing vehicle was a man identified as Asiri Eniba, whom he described as a known political thug.
Reacting, the state government said the alleged attempt on the governor’s son’s life was unacceptable and must not go unpunished.
“The government demands the immediate arrest and prosecution of all those involved without delay,” the statement signed by Hon. Kolapo Alimi read.
