Osun 2026: APC Mobilises Statewide Structures, Rallies Leaders Ahead August 15 Governorship Poll

The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has intensified its political consultations and grassroots mobilisation ahead of the August 15, 2026 governorship election, convening a statewide leadership meeting that drew stakeholders across all levels of the party structure.

The meeting, held after a series of engagements with local government political office holders, brought together leaders from polling unit, ward, local government, and state levels, in what the party described as a renewed strategy to strengthen internal cohesion and consolidate its campaign machinery.

Speaking at the session, the Director-General of the APC Campaign Council, Hon. Oluwole Oke, said the party was deliberately tightening its grassroots structure, stressing that victory at the polls would depend largely on effective mobilisation at the base. Oke charged party leaders to take ownership of voter mobilisation and grassroots engagement in their respective domains, insisting that the APC remained united and strategically positioned to unseat the incumbent administration through what he described as a “coordinated and people-driven campaign.”

“The strength of our party lies in our structure. From the polling units to the wards, local governments, and up to the state level, we must function as one cohesive force. This election will be won and secured at the grassroots, and we must all rise to the occasion,” he said.

He reaffirmed the party’s commitment to the emergence of its governorship candidate, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, at the August poll.

Also speaking, the Director-General of Osun West APC, Prince Dotun Babayemi, passed a vote of confidence on the campaign leadership, commending Oke’s coordination of the strategy and urging stakeholders to intensify mobilisation efforts across the state.

Prince Bayo Adeleke (Banik), in his remarks, called for reconciliation within the party, urging members to close ranks and strengthen unity at the grassroots, while Rt. Hon. Timothy Owoeye emphasised voter outreach, charging members to take personal responsibility for mobilisation within their polling units.

According to participants, the meeting reinforced confidence in the party’s preparedness for the election, with pledges to intensify door-to-door campaigns and improve voter turnout across all local government areas.

Other leaders in attendance included top party officials, former lawmakers, ex-cabinet members, and members of the APC State Working Committee.

The session ended with a unanimous commitment to sustain momentum and execute a “disciplined and result-oriented campaign strategy” ahead of the governorship election.
