The party’s state chairman, Hon. Cornelius Ojelabi, issued the warning on Sunday while reacting to reports that some Local Government Chairmen have begun publicly projecting certain individuals as “consensus candidates.”
Ojelabi described the development as “disturbing and unauthorised,” noting that it runs contrary to the party’s principles of internal democracy, fairness, and due process.
He warned that such actions could generate avoidable tension, deepen mistrust, and create division within the party structure.
“For the avoidance of doubt, the Lagos State APC has not issued any guideline, directive, or timetable for the forthcoming primaries,” he said. “Any attempt to project or anoint aspirants as consensus candidates is premature and entirely without the authorisation of the party.”
The party leadership further stated that disciplinary measures would be taken against any official or member found engaging in activities capable of destabilising the party.
Ojelabi assured all aspirants of a level playing field, stressing that the party remains committed to a transparent and credible primary process that reflects internal democracy.
He also urged party officials who may be assigned roles as electoral umpires to remain neutral and uphold the integrity of the process in the interest of unity and cohesion.
The warning comes amid growing political manoeuvring within the Lagos APC, despite the absence of an official timetable for the conduct of primaries.
