Osun 2026: APC Storms Ataoja’s Palace, Seeks Royal Endorsement for Guber Race

The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress has taken its governorship campaign to the doorstep of traditional authority, as its Campaign Council, led by Director-General, Hon. Oluwole Oke, visited the Ataoja of Osogbo, Oba Jimoh Oyetunji Olanipekun, ahead of the August 15, 2026 election.

The Media Aide to Oke, Omolebi-Sunday Segun Tunde, in a statement on Saturday, said the visit was part of strategic moves to galvanise grassroots support and secure the backing of key stakeholders across the state.

According to him, the council is committed to a peaceful and issue-based campaign focused on development and the welfare of residents.

The delegation included Prince Adebayo Adeleke Banik, Comrade Oyebade Adegboyega, Dr. Desmond Ojumu, Hon. Femi Kujembola, and Hon. Adeniran Ibitoye, among other party leaders.

Addressing the monarch, Oke said the visit was to seek royal blessings and guidance as the party intensifies consultations with the people.

“We have come to seek your royal blessings and fatherly guidance as we continue to engage the good people of Osun with our message of hope, sustainable development, and shared prosperity,” he said.

He assured that the APC campaign would be conducted with civility and respect, adding that the party would prioritise issues affecting the people.

In his remarks, the Ataoja commended the delegation for observing traditional protocols, describing Osogbo as a central and symbolic city in the state.

“I appreciate your decision to come here first. Osogbo remains a central and symbolic place in Osun State. I pray that God grants your aspirations. However, as you go about your campaigns, let peace, civility, and the interest of the people guide your actions,” the monarch said.

He also urged the team not to neglect the people of Osogbo if elected.

The visit, according to the statement, forms part of ongoing consultations by the APC Campaign Council with traditional rulers and other stakeholders ahead of the governorship poll.
