It would be recalled that INEC, on February 26, 2026, released an updated timetable for the 2027 general elections, in which the Osun governorship poll was moved from August 8 to August 15, 2026.
Consequently, the commission stated that political parties are now required to conclude their campaigns by midnight on Thursday, August 13, 2026, in line with the provisions of Section 98(1) of the Electoral Act, which mandates the cessation of campaigns 24 hours before election day.
INEC’s National Commissioner and Chairman of Information and Voter Education, Mohammed Haruna, disclosed this in a statement issued on Thursday.
The commission urged all political parties, candidates, and relevant stakeholders to adhere strictly to the revised timetable.
INEC also reaffirmed its commitment to delivering a free, fair, credible, and inclusive electoral process in the state.
