Oloriegbe submitted his letter of intent to the APC Secretariat in Ilorin on Tuesday, marking the formal beginning of his gubernatorial campaign.
Speaking on his decision, the ex-lawmaker said it followed extensive consultations with family members, party leaders, and other stakeholders. “By the grace of God, on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, I visited the State Secretariat of our dearest party to formally deliver my official declaration to seek the APC ticket to contest for the Office of the Governor of Kwara State in 2027,” he wrote on Facebook.
He added, “I am joining the race as a duty call to serve the people of our beloved State, after months of deliberation with my family, party leadership, and stakeholders who love Kwara and our great party, the APC.”
Oloriegbe said he used the occasion to present his vision for the state, highlighting his readiness to assume the responsibilities of the governorship. “I spoke about the signal our party would send to Kwarans by having me as its flagbearer at the next gubernatorial elections,” he noted.
The governorship aspirant was received by Sunday Fagbemi, APC State Chairman, and members of the State Working Committee, who welcomed him warmly. “The Chairman acknowledged my sportsmanship over the years as a total party man, citing how my achievements in the Senate and other capacities reflect positively on the party’s image,” Oloriegbe said.
He called on party members and supporters to rally behind his ambition, stating, “I look forward to your support as we begin this journey.”
Oloriegbe previously served in the Ninth National Assembly and was appointed Kwara State Amirul-Hajj in 2024. He currently chairs the governing council of the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA).
