Trump issued the warning on Wednesday in a post on his Truth Social platform.
“A country supplying military weapons to Iran will be immediately tariffed… 50%, effective immediately. There will be no exclusions or exemptions,” he said.
The threat comes amid heightened geopolitical tensions involving Iran, even as Trump disclosed that his administration is engaging Tehran on possible tariff and sanctions relief.
“We are talking tariff and sanctions relief with Iran,” he said in a separate post.
The development follows the announcement of a temporary ceasefire with Iran, alongside an agreement to reopen the strategic Strait of Hormuz, a critical global oil transit route.
The latest remarks signal a mix of pressure and diplomacy from Washington, combining economic threats with ongoing negotiations as efforts continue to stabilise the region.
