2027: NDC Open to Politicians Seeking Credible Alternative Platform, Says Dickson

Senator Seriake Dickson, founder and national leader of Nigeria Democratic Congress, has declared that the party is ready to receive politicians searching for a credible and crisis-free political platform ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Dickson made the declaration while addressing political developments surrounding opposition parties in the country, stressing that the NDC remains open to Nigerians who desire political change and a fresh direction.

According to him, the party also provides an alternative for politicians who may have become politically displaced due to internal crises affecting their current platforms.

He said: “Our party is available for all Nigerians who are helpless and desirous of change. It is also open to politicians who, because of present political developments, require a platform that is clean and free from internal disputes.”

The former governor described the NDC as an ideological movement built on service, ideas and national development, adding that its emergence has already begun to attract attention across the political landscape.

Dickson maintained that the party’s growing popularity has unsettled some political actors, insisting that the movement has come to stay and will continue mobilising support nationwide.

He also called on Nigerians at home and in the diaspora to sustain their support for the party, expressing confidence that the momentum behind the NDC would continue to grow.

Drawing inspiration from a popular quote often attributed to Mahatma Gandhi, Dickson said political resistance against the party would eventually strengthen its resolve.

His remarks come amid recent developments involving Independent National Electoral Commission and the leadership dispute within African Democratic Congress, which has led to renewed discussions over alternative political platforms.

Reacting to criticisms credited to Umar Ardo, Dickson described the attacks on the NDC as misplaced, noting that the critic was fully aware of the circumstances surrounding the registration of the party.

He explained that the NDC resumed its registration process after INEC lifted restrictions on new political parties, adding that the party has no connection with the legal issues surrounding other political associations.

According to him, the NDC cannot be held responsible for frustrations arising from disputes among promoters of separate political platforms.

Dickson reaffirmed that the party remains focused on building a national structure capable of offering Nigerians a fresh political choice in the coming elections.
