Salaam, the governorship flagbearer of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), is seeking to take the reins of Osun State in the upcoming election. His former classmates from the Department of Political Science (Set 89/93) described him as the “best candidate” for the governorship.
In a statement on Friday, the Chairman of the OAU ’93 Political Science Alumni Association, Mr. Lanre Anjolaiya, who also chairs Afenifere, Lagos State Chapter, said Salaam has consistently demonstrated leadership qualities that set him apart.
“From our campus days, Salaam was studious, amiable, humane, and God-fearing,” Anjolaiya said. “He is humility personified, and even at a young age, it was clear he was destined for greatness.”
The alumni highlighted Salaam’s integrity in public service, noting his eight-year tenure as Speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly, where he “led with decorum and ensured accountability.” They believe he has the vision and experience to deliver meaningful development for the people of Osun.
Salaam’s record of service has also earned him traditional and religious honors, including the Chieftaincy title of Iwaloye of Ejigbo and the Asiwaju Adinni of Ejigbo Central Mosque, further cementing his influence and credibility in the state.
Anjolaiya concluded: “The people of Osun deserve a leader like Salaam—one who has proven himself and can transform governance for the better.”
