Ida, who represented Katsina Central in the Senate, is expected to head the commission with his background in finance, administration and law.
He holds a Master’s degree in Banking and Finance from University of Ibadan and a Law degree from University of Abuja. He previously served as Commissioner for Finance in Katsina State and also worked as a Permanent Secretary in the Federal Civil Service.
Also nominated as federal commissioners of the National Population Commission, subject to confirmation by the National Assembly, are Kolawole Oladipupo Alabi (Ekiti), Nasiru Mu’azu (Zamfara), Usman Abubakar Tuggar (Bauchi), Dr Isaka Alada Yahaya (Kwara), Prof. Sadiq Isah Radda (Katsina), Suleiman Umar (Jigawa), and Hon. Chiso Abdullahi Dattijo (Sokoto).
The appointments are to fill existing vacancies and strengthen the commission’s national representation.
In a related development, Tinubu also appointed Dr Yusuf Mohammed as Chairman of Federal Polytechnic Kaltungo.
Similarly, Bala Mohammed Bello from Kebbi State was confirmed as Special Adviser to the President on Political Economy.
Bello holds a degree in Accounting and an MBA from Ahmadu Bello University and previously served as Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, as well as Executive Director of Corporate Services at Nigerian Export-Import Bank between 2017 and 2022.
