Dickson made the remarks during an appearance on AIT’s Focus Nigeria, where he criticised what he termed the party’s “ideological vacuity.”
He noted that many of the key figures currently aligning with the ADC were instrumental in forming the All Progressives Congress (APC), arguing that their movement reflects more on the failure of the ruling party than the strength of a new political direction.
“Those leaders in the ADC were among those who formed the APC. If they now agree that the party they built has failed Nigerians, then their convergence in the ADC is a statement of that failure,” he said.
While acknowledging that the coalition could help counter the drift toward a one-party system, Dickson insisted that a credible political platform must go beyond a gathering of influential names.
“It takes more than a congregation of individuals to build a party with a clear vision and agenda that can deliver meaningful governance,” he stated.
The senator maintained that he remains unconvinced about the party’s stance on key national issues.
“For me, there is ideological vacuity. I am not convinced of where they stand on issues that are important to me and to the country,” he added.
Despite his criticism, Dickson singled out ADC National Chairman, Senator David Mark, describing him as “a very respectable Nigerian statesman.”
The comments come amid ongoing political realignments ahead of the 2027 general elections, with opposition figures exploring coalition platforms to challenge the ruling APC.
