The initiative, announced in a statement by the governor’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Gboyega Akosile, was flagged off at the De Blue Roof Event Centre, with simultaneous distribution across the state.
Beneficiaries were drawn from religious centres, communities, and all 20 Local Government Areas as well as the 37 Local Council Development Areas.
In an open letter read during the event, Sanwo-Olu urged residents to celebrate the President, describing him as an “extraordinary leader” and reaffirming Lagos’ support for his administration.
“As you receive this gift box, know that its contents are more than a token of celebration. It represents the united voice of Lagos State, saying, ‘We stand with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. We believe in the Nigeria he is building,’” the governor said.
He acknowledged the economic difficulties faced by Nigerians, noting that the impact of ongoing reforms had been challenging but expressed optimism about gradual improvements.
“We have endured the pains of the reforms together, and now we are beginning to reap the rewards. The worst is behind us, and the best is in sight,” he stated.
The governor also called for sustained support for the administration’s policies, stressing that ongoing reforms must be allowed to run their course.
Sanwo-Olu further highlighted Tinubu’s legacy as a former governor of Lagos State, crediting him with laying the foundation for the state’s economic growth and institutional development.
Also speaking, the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, described the occasion as significant, noting that the distribution was designed to ensure inclusiveness across the state.
“The idea is that all Lagosians should feel part of this celebration,” he said.
Similarly, the Special Adviser on Political, Legislative and Civic Engagement, Tajudeen Afolabi, said the initiative reflected the administration’s commitment to residents’ welfare.
Beneficiaries expressed appreciation for the gesture, describing it as timely amid prevailing economic challenges.
The event also featured prayers for the nation and for the continued leadership of President Tinubu.
