At 74, ADC Bombards Tinubu, Demands Serious Governance Amid Hardship

The African Democratic Congress on Sunday launched a sharp attack on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as he marked his 74th birthday, urging him to confront what it described as worsening hardship, insecurity and growing public frustration across the country.

In a statement issued by its National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, the opposition party said the President’s birthday should serve as a moment of deep reflection on the realities facing millions of Nigerians under his administration.

ADC said soaring fuel prices, rising transportation costs and increasing pressure on household incomes have continued to weigh heavily on citizens, while insecurity remains a major concern in several parts of the country.

The party maintained that many Nigerians are struggling daily to cope with economic reforms that have significantly altered living conditions since the beginning of the administration.

Abdullahi also pointed to persistent security threats, noting that violent attacks and loss of lives continue to test public confidence in government efforts.

According to him, the present situation demands stronger leadership, clearer accountability and urgent policy actions capable of restoring confidence among citizens.

The opposition party further warned against developments it said could weaken democratic space, stressing that governance must remain focused on national stability and citizens’ welfare.

It added that beyond celebrations, the moment calls for renewed responsibility in addressing the country’s pressing economic and security challenges.

The party, however, wished the President good health and wisdom as he enters a new age.

President Tinubu had earlier expressed gratitude for birthday messages, insisting that ongoing reforms were beginning to produce results despite current difficulties.
