Speaking in a statement on Sunday in Osogbo, Pastor Victor Akande, Chairman of Osun Accord, said, “We have it on good authority that the APC chairmen are diverting local government funds to purchase vehicles for donation to the police. Accepting these cars will make the police an accomplice in the ongoing criminal diversion of Osun local government funds.”
The party alleged that the scheme was part of a wider agenda to “permanently disempower” the police by making the service complicit in the misuse of Osun local government funds, which have been under scrutiny for over a year.
“We alert the police that accepting car donations from the APC chairmen will amount to open support for the diversion of funds meant for local government workers for bribery purposes,” the statement added. “This will compromise the integrity of the police and implicate the service in ongoing criminal trials concerning Osun local government funds held at the United Bank for Africa.”
Accord further accused some segments of the police of colluding with the court-sacked chairmen, whose tenure allegedly expired in October 2025, to facilitate the alleged bribery scheme.
The party called on the Inspector-General of Police to intervene and direct the Osun Police Command not to accept the vehicles, emphasizing that the matter is already before several courts.
