The police also recovered three locally fabricated AK-47 rifles and other dangerous weapons.
Parading the suspects in Jos on Saturday, the Commissioner of Police, Bassey Ewah, said the arrests were made possible through credible information provided by members of the public.
He described the development as a reflection of the command’s ongoing efforts to tackle insecurity and protect lives and property.
According to him, some of the suspects were linked to armed robbery operations in Langtang South Local Government Area, following a report filed by a victim.
He explained that the Divisional Police Officer acted swiftly in collaboration with the Armed Robbery Section of the Criminal Investigation Department, leading to the arrests.
Ewah added that the recovered weapons include three locally fabricated AK-47 rifles, two locally made revolvers, pistols, and rubber guns used in criminal activities.
He noted that the success of the operation highlights the importance of community policing and public cooperation.
“We appreciate members of the public for their support and for providing actionable intelligence that led to these recoveries,” he said.
The police commissioner assured that all suspects, including those linked to kidnapping and terrorism through information sharing, would be charged in court.
He also commended the Plateau State Ministry of Justice for its support in ensuring diligent prosecution of criminal cases.
Ewah reaffirmed the command’s commitment to transparency, stating that the police remain open to constructive criticism aimed at improving service delivery.
He urged residents to continue partnering with security agencies to enhance safety across the state.
