Speaking through the party’s state chairman, Pastor Victor Babalola Akande, the party said it had no interest in the internal crisis of the APC, particularly matters relating to the credibility of its candidate’s credentials.
Akande, in a statement made available to journalists in Osogbo, said: “Accord has no business with the internal challenges of the disgruntled APC, especially issues concerning the credibility of its candidate’s credentials. Our focus at this critical time is firmly on our campaign and engaging the people of Osun with our manifesto.”
He explained that the party was concentrating on selling its candidate and policies to the electorate rather than joining issues with opposition parties.
According to him, “We are committed to presenting our scorecard to the people, highlighting our performances and contributions across various sectors. Our engagement is centred on substance, governance and the future of Osun State, not personalities or partisan attacks.”
The Accord chairman, however, maintained that anyone seeking public office must be open and accountable, stressing that the people deserve clarity on issues surrounding those aspiring to govern them.
He added, “While we are not interested in APC’s internal matters, we believe strongly that anyone aspiring to lead the people must be transparent at all times. That is why we expected Ambo to provide answers to the 30 questions raised against him, which he failed to do.”
Akande further said the APC candidate should emulate Ademola Adeleke, whom he described as a symbol of openness for responding to earlier questions directed at him.
“Leadership demands honesty and responsibility to the people. Governor Adeleke showed openness by responding to 18 questions earlier asked of him,” he said.
The statement comes amid growing political exchanges ahead of the governorship contest in Osun, with parties intensifying campaigns and public scrutiny of candidates’ backgrounds.
