Nigeria targets additional 100,000 barrels daily crude output in coming months — NNPC

The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd.) has said Nigeria could raise crude oil production by an additional 100,000 barrels per day in the next few months as efforts intensify to strengthen output capacity across the sector.

The Group Chief Executive Officer of NNPCL, Bayou Ojulari disclosed this while speaking to newsmen.

According to him, the country is putting measures in place to achieve the projected increase, noting that although Nigeria may not operate at the production scale of , it still has capacity to make a significant contribution to global oil supply.

Ojulari explained that NNPC carried out a detailed review of its business portfolio last year and has begun implementing strategic adjustments aimed at improving operational efficiency in 2026.

He said priority is being placed on project execution to ensure timely delivery and cost control, stressing that delays which affected previous projects must be addressed.

Nigeria’s crude oil production had dropped to 1.31 million barrels per day in February, according to figures released by .

The decline came despite a temporary rise in crude prices above $100 per barrel earlier in March, a development that initially raised expectations of stronger revenue inflow.

However, oil prices later declined to about $96 per barrel following comments by indicating a delay in possible military action against Iranian energy facilities.
