The incident, which occurred on Monday morning, has heightened fear among residents of the area following recent security threats in the community.
Confirming the development, Chief Press Secretary to Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, Rafiu Ajakaye, said the explosive device detonated when a vehicle passed over it along a road located some distance from Woro community.
According to him, a male occupant of the vehicle died instantly, while a woman travelling with a child sustained injuries.
He explained that the injured woman was immediately taken to hospital for treatment and is responding positively, while the child escaped without injury.
Also speaking, ZulQharnain Shero Musa, Special Assistant on Media to the Chairman of Kaiama Local Government Area, said preliminary findings indicate that the device may have been planted by suspected insurgents.
He noted that security agencies have been alerted and further investigations are ongoing to determine those behind the attack.
The latest explosion comes weeks after a deadly assault on the same community in February, during which armed men reportedly attacked residents, killed several people and destroyed property.
Residents have again appealed to government and security authorities to strengthen security presence in the area to prevent further attacks and protect lives and property.
