Eid-el-Fitr: Sustain Peace, Unity Beyond Ramadan, Wike Urges FCT Residents

Nyesom Wike, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has called on residents of Abuja to uphold the virtues of peace, compassion and unity beyond the Ramadan season as Muslims celebrate Eid al-Fitr.

In his Eid-el-Fitr message on Friday, the minister said the holy month offered an opportunity for spiritual renewal, self-discipline and reflection, urging residents not to abandon the lessons learnt during the fasting period.

According to him, Ramadan has strengthened the spirit of togetherness among residents of the nation’s capital, noting that acts of kindness and generosity displayed during the period reflected Abuja’s identity as a centre of unity and peaceful coexistence.

Wike commended both individuals and corporate organisations for extending support to Muslims and non-Muslims alike during the month, describing the gesture as a demonstration of shared humanity and collective responsibility.

He also urged residents to use the festive period to pray for Nigeria’s peace, progress and leaders at all levels, stressing that national development requires continuous prayers and cooperation from citizens.

The FCT minister further appealed to residents, irrespective of political affiliation, tribe or gender, to maintain peaceful conduct throughout the year, especially as political activities gradually gather momentum across the country.

He assured that security agencies had intensified surveillance across the territory to ensure a peaceful and orderly celebration, adding that the FCT Administration remains committed to protecting lives and property while pursuing its vision of making Abuja a world-class capital city.
