United States President, Donald Trump, has dissociated the United States from the Israeli airstrike on Iran’s section of the South Pars Gas Field, saying Washington had no prior knowledge of the operation.

Trump, in a statement posted late Wednesday through the official White House account on X and his Truth Social platform, said Israel acted independently and described the strike as a reaction to recent developments in the Middle East.

According to him, the United States was not involved in the attack and Qatar was also unaware of the planned operation.

“The United States knew nothing about this particular attack, and the country of Qatar was in no way, shape, or form, involved with it, nor did it have any idea that it was going to happen,” Trump stated.

He further said Iran responded by attacking part of Qatar’s LNG gas infrastructure after allegedly misreading the situation surrounding the strike.

“Unfortunately, Iran did not know this, or any of the pertinent facts pertaining to the South Pars attack, and unjustifiably and unfairly attacked a portion of Qatar’s LNG Gas facility,” he added.

Trump warned that no further strikes would be carried out by Israel on the strategic gas field unless Iran launches another attack on Qatar.

He said any fresh assault on Qatari energy assets would attract a strong military response from the United States.

“NO MORE ATTACKS WILL BE MADE BY ISRAEL pertaining to this extremely important and valuable South Pars Field unless Iran unwisely decides to attack a very innocent, in this case, Qatar. In that instance, the United States of America, with or without the help or consent of Israel, will massively blow up the entirety of the South Pars Gas Field,” Trump declared.

The retaliatory exchange reportedly triggered fires and major disruption around one of the world’s biggest liquefied natural gas export centres, raising fears over global supply stability.

The South Pars/North Dome reserve, shared by Iran and Qatar, remains the world’s largest known natural gas field and accounts for a significant share of international LNG supply

Global energy markets reacted sharply, with crude oil prices and LNG benchmarks climbing amid concerns over possible prolonged disruption in the Gulf.

As of press time, there was no official reaction from either Israeli or Iranian authorities to Trump’s remarks.
