Tinubu, wife receive royal welcome at Windsor Castle with 42-gun salute
President Bola Tinubu and the First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, were on Wednesday formally received at Windsor Castle by King Charles III and Queen Camilla, in a ceremony marked by full royal honours.
The Nigerian leader and his wife were welcomed at the Royal Dais, where they were presented to members of the Royal Family, including Prince William and Catherine, Princess of Wales.
The ceremony featured a 42-gun salute fired by the King’s Troop Royal Horse Artillery, underscoring the significance of the state visit.
President Tinubu arrived in the United Kingdom on Tuesday for the two-day state visit, aimed at strengthening diplomatic and economic ties between both countries.
The visit is expected to focus on deepening cooperation in key areas, including trade, investment, security, and education, as well as reinforcing the long-standing relationship between Nigeria and the United Kingdom.
The state visit marks a significant milestone in Nigeria–UK relations, coming nearly four decades after the last such engagement.
