The initiative is being coordinated by the Renewed Hope Ambassadors, a political support group for the president.
The Director-General of the group and Governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodinma, disclosed the directive in a statement issued on Saturday.
According to the statement, the intervention is aimed at promoting national unity and compassion during a period of spiritual reflection for both Muslims and Christians.
Uzodinma said the initiative demonstrates the president’s commitment to supporting citizens during important religious observances.
“Ramadan and Lent are seasons that remind us of sacrifice, charity and care for one another. Through this distribution, the Renewed Hope Ambassadors will ensure that families across Nigeria feel the spirit of togetherness during this sacred period,” he said.
He added that the distribution would be carried out through the group’s grassroots network across the country to ensure that families benefit from the intervention during the fasting season.
The statement noted that the initiative targets households observing Ramadan and Lent, both of which emphasise charity, compassion and community support.
