ADC Raises Concern Over Slow Membership Registration in Anambra, Blames Portal Challenges

The African Democratic Congress in Anambra State has expressed concern over the slow pace of membership registration and revalidation in the state, blaming technical difficulties on the party’s online registration portal for the setback.

Chairman of the party in the state, Patrick Obianyo, disclosed this during the inauguration of a support group, the ADC Independent Campaign Council, AICC, held in the state.

Obianyo said the party had projected over 120,000 new members in the ongoing registration exercise but had only been able to register about 22,000 members as of Thursday, describing the figure as far below expectation.

According to him, repeated technical glitches on the registration website have slowed down efforts by party leaders to capture new members across various registration centres.

He explained that many intending members who turned up for registration were unable to complete the process because of network congestion and portal delays.

“We mobilised many people to different registration centres, but only a few could be registered, while several others returned home disappointed,” he said.

He added that party officials had to collect personal details of prospective members, including names and other required information, with the hope of completing the process later when traffic on the portal reduced.

“It was around midnight before we succeeded in registering some additional members. The challenge is not mobilisation, but the difficulty with the portal,” he stated.

The ADC chairman further noted that the state chapter now hopes to add about 100,000 more members before the close of the current registration window, stressing that the target remains achievable if the technical issues are resolved quickly.

He compared the situation in Anambra with other states, noting that some chapters which commenced registration earlier had recorded significantly higher numbers.

Obianyo appealed for urgent improvement of the registration system to enable the state chapter meet its target before the deadline.
