Tinubu hints at tariff review for media organisations
President Bola Tinubu has indicated that the Federal Government may review tariffs affecting media organisations, following concerns raised by industry leaders.
Tinubu gave the assurance during an interfaith iftar with media executives at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, where he said he had taken note of issues raised during discussions with media stakeholders.
“I’ve listened carefully to you. The question of tariff was discussed this afternoon,” the president said.
“What I cannot report back here is whether I took action in the area that affected you or not, but if I miss that, I’ll go back to rectify it.”
Tinubu also commended media organisations for their contributions to national development, noting that the industry plays an important role in informing, educating and shaping public opinion.
He added that the sector also provides employment opportunities for many Nigerians.
“The joy is that many of you have employed people to live a life and inform people to get information, educate and strengthen our minds,” the president said.
