The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has dismissed claims that the Court of Appeal removed the party’s current national leadership led by Senator David Mark.

The clarification was made in a statement issued on Saturday by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, and posted on his X account.

Abdullahi said the appellate court’s ruling in a case filed by Mark was purely procedural and did not determine the substantive dispute over the party’s leadership.

According to him, the suit challenging the emergence of David Mark as National Chairman and Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola as National Secretary is still pending before the Federal High Court, where it is yet to be decided on its merits.

“The Court of Appeal did not grant any relief in favour of the plaintiff, nor did it issue any order affecting the leadership structure of the party,” the statement said.

“On the contrary, the court ordered that parties should maintain the status quo pending the determination of the substantive suit.”

The party urged members and the public not to be misled by what it described as misinterpretations of the court’s judgment, stressing that the ruling does not affect the legitimacy or tenure of the current national leadership.

ADC also reaffirmed its commitment to party unity and democratic principles, despite what it described as attempts by anti-democratic forces to impose a one-party system in Nigeria.
