The case, registered as FHC/OS/CS/261/2025 on March 2, 2026, intensifies political tensions in the state as preparations for the August 8 governorship election gather momentum.
Although details of the legal action remain confidential, the lawsuit is widely believed to be connected to Omisore’s recent disqualification from the APC governorship primary. The development has stirred debates within political circles across Osun State.
Speaking on the matter, Akin Omolaoye, Acting Secretary of the Osun APC Elders’ Caucus (Igbimo Agba), said he was unaware of the legal proceedings. He noted that the caucus, led by Chairman Chief Sola Akinwunmi, had recently engaged in constructive talks with Senator Omisore to promote party unity and avoid internal conflict.
“Senator Omisore assured us during those meetings that he had no intention of leaving the party,” Omolaoye stated. He, however, declined to comment on the possible impact of the lawsuit on the APC’s cohesion.
Meanwhile, the suit has sparked reactions on social media, with some members of the opposition Accord Party celebrating the legal move.
Senator Omisore’s litigation follows his disqualification by the APC Screening Committee in December 2025 over alleged irregularities during the nomination process. As Osun State approaches the crucial polls, this court challenge adds a new layer of uncertainty to the APC’s political calculations.
