Dangote Refinery hikes petrol price to N1,175, third increase in a week

The Dangote Petroleum Refinery has increased the price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) for the third time in a week, sending fuel costs soaring nationwide.

The refinery announced the new gantry price to marketers on Monday, raising it from N995 to N1,175 per litre, representing an increase of N180 (18.1 per cent) within three days.

In the same adjustment, the gantry price of Automotive Gas Oil (diesel) was revised to N1,620 per litre.

The move follows a recent hike from N874 to N995 per litre over the weekend, a trend that has pushed pump prices above N1,000 per litre across Nigeria.

Market watchers attribute the steep increases to global crude price volatility and rising operational costs, warning that consumers are likely to feel the impact immediately at filling stations.
