Suspected political thugs have set ablaze the office of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Ubima community, Ikwerre Local Government Area of Rivers State — the hometown of former Minister of Transportation, Chibuike Amaechi.
The attackers reportedly invaded the community on Thursday night, firing sporadically and setting the party secretariat on fire.
Amaechi, a key figure in the ADC and one of the opposition leaders positioning ahead of the 2027 general election, is expected to visit Ubima on Friday to officially register with the party at the ward level.
Sources said the assailants returned on Friday morning and mounted a roadblock along the Omuawa-Ubima Road, preventing buses carrying ADC banners from entering the community.
Security operatives were later deployed to the area, and normalcy was reportedly restored after their intervention.
