2027: APC has 31 governors, more still joining — Gov Okpebholo

Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, has declared that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) now controls 31 state governments, expressing confidence that more governors will soon join the party ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Okpebholo made the assertion on Wednesday during an official reception for defectors into the party in Benin City, the Edo State capital.

The governor thanked residents of the state for what he described as growing unity within the party, noting that the development has strengthened the APC’s political base.

“Let me start by thanking Edo people for the unity that is binding us together and making us one party,” he said.

“We now have 31 governors in the All Progressives Congress (APC), and I want to tell you that more governors are still coming to join us.”

Okpebholo also expressed appreciation to President Bola Tinubu for his support to the state and the party.

“I want to also express my profound gratitude to our father, for whom we are here today, President Bola Tinubu,” he added.

“He’s being so good to us, and we promise to deliver Edo State to him in the 2027 general elections.”

The governor’s remarks come amid growing political realignments and defections across party lines as political actors begin positioning ahead of the next general elections.
