Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has approved the appointment of Muyiwa John Adetola as the new Accountant-General of the state and Permanent Secretary, State Treasury Office.
The appointment was announced in an official circular issued by the Office of the Head of Service and published on the Lagos State Government’s Facebook page on Tuesday.
Adetola takes over from Abiodun Muritala, who retired upon attaining the statutory retirement age. Before his elevation, Adetola served as the State Auditor-General, from where he was redeployed to head the State Treasury Office.
The appointment took effect from Monday, March 2, 2026.
In the statement, the Head of Service, Mr. Bode Agoro, congratulated Adetola and urged relevant stakeholders to ensure a seamless transition by complying with the directives contained in the circular.
According to the statement, the strategic redeployment underscores the state government’s commitment to efficiency, accountability, and continuity in public financial management.
